We continue interviewing HR experts from Cyprus. Stephanie Michael represents the leading Investment Firm from Limassol - IQ Option. Stephanie shares with us the deficit roles within her organization, the qualities she is looking into candidates and why you should not ask for a date during the interview.
How would you describe the job market in Cyprus (in the industry you work)?
This industry I would saying is booming at the moment, with many locals having the opportunity to work in leading companies. Locals should grab opportunities like these and develop themselves as international and established companies are expanding day by day and the opportunities are endless.

What are the most requested specialists and the ones in short supply in your industry?
Mostly multilingual specialists, which makes us recruit from countries such as German, UK, Spain, France, Portugal, Italy etc.
Of course, in our Russian office, the most requested vacancies are for the Development teams.
Any difficulties you meet during the recruiting process?
Resourcing talent from abroad and filing very specific senior positions.
Are the candidates based in Cyprus enough to fill your positions or you need to hunt abroad?
There are many professional and talented candidates in Cyprus. However, it would always depend on the role. For positions such as Back Office, Finance, Compliance, Dealers, Marketing and HR there are many skillful candidates from Cyprus which we are very happy about. Although, for our multilingual roles, the talent would be hunted from abroad.
How should CVs look like to get your attention?
CV’s should be at least 2 pages long. Europass format is also fine by us. Simple written, not too many colours and fonts should be used. It should be as simple as for the recruiter to be able to read it in a few seconds.
What are the main qualities you want to see in your candidates?
IQ Option is known for its playful side employing a young, dynamic and enthusiastic workforce. We are looking for passionate people, who are friendly, humble and ready to play hard work harder!
What kind of interview do you prefer: simple dialogue, professional tests, or stress interview?
Our Interview process is a multistep process, including simple dialogues, test tasks and role plays.
What is the funniest story you had with a candidate?
Once I was invited out on a date by a candidate during the interview. Unlucky day for him,I was back then in a relationship haha as well as he didn’t manage to get the position.
